How to Make Hot Coffee Using the "Pour Over" Method in the Glass Water Pitcher
Generate Alkaline Water:
- Start by filling the Glass Pitcher of Life with regular water.
- Allow the pitcher to alkalize the water.
Heat the Alkaline Water:
- Option 1: Place the pitcher directly on the stove top and heat the water until it's hot.
- Option 2: Pour the alkaline water into an electric hot water pot and heat it separately.
Prepare the Coffee:
- Once the water is hot, place ground coffee into the stainless steel infuser that comes with the pitcher.
Pour Over Method:
- Slowly pour the hot alkaline water over the ground coffee in the infuser.
- Let the water pass through the coffee grounds, extracting the flavor.
Enjoy Your Coffee:
- Allow the coffee to steep for a few minutes.
- Remove the infuser from the pitcher.
- Pour your freshly brewed alkaline coffee into a cup and enjoy!

To prepare a new alkaline water filter for your Pitcher of Life water pitcher, follow these steps to ensure optimal performance:
1. Rinse the Filter
- Remove the new filter from its packaging.
- Rinse the filter under cold water for about 2-3 minutes. This removes any loose particles or carbon dust.
2. Soak the Filter
- Place the filter in a clean bowl or container of cold water.
- Soak it for 10-15 minutes. This helps to activate the filtration media and prime the filter for use.
3. Insert the Filter into the Pitcher
- After soaking, remove the filter from the water.
- Insert the filter into the filter housing in the Pitcher of Life water pitcher, ensuring it's securely in place
4. Run Water through the Filter
- Fill the pitcher with cold water and allow the water to pass through the filter into the reservoir.
- Discard the first one or two batches of filtered water to remove any remaining particles or impurities from the new filter.
5. Ready for Use
- Once the initial water has been discarded, your Pitcher of Life water pitcher is ready to provide fresh, alkaline water.
Make sure to replace the filter according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule, typically every 2 months for two people
and once a month is 3 or more people
The Pitcher of Life Alkaline Water Pitchers incorporate mixed media that releases hydrogen into the water using a combination of minerals that react with the water to produce molecular hydrogen (H2)
Here’s how this happens:
- Mineral Composition: These Pitchers contain a mix of minerals like magnesium, calcium, and some proprietary additional elements and ceramics that are capable of reacting with water. Magnesium is particularly crucial as it reacts directly with water.
- Reaction Mechanism: When water interacts with these minerals, a chemical reaction occurs. For magnesium, the typical reaction is:
Mg+2H2O→Mg(OH)2+H In this reaction, magnesium reacts with water (H2O) to form magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and hydrogen gas (H2). This reaction is slow and occurs over time as water is in contact with the mineral media. - Hydrogen Generation: The hydrogen gas produced is molecular hydrogen, which is soluble in water to a certain extent. As the reaction occurs within the Pitcher of Life, hydrogen dissolves into the water, making it "hydrogen-rich."
- Alkalinity Increase: Alongside hydrogen production, the water's pH is increased due to the formation of magnesium hydroxide, a weak base, which contributes to the alkalinity of the water.
- Additional Media: the Pitcher of Life also includes additional layers or types of media to enhance ionization, add trace minerals, improve taste, and further increase the pH and antioxidant properties of the water.
The effectiveness of the Pitcher of Life in producing significant amounts of hydrogen and altering the water's properties is based on the design, the type and amount of minerals used, and the contact time between the water and the media.

The pitchers contain many essential minerals such as magnesium and calcium, along with proprietary additional elements and ceramics. When water interacts with these minerals, a chemical reaction occurs, generating hydrogen gas (H2) that dissolves into the water, making it hydrogen-rich. The water’s pH increases due to magnesium hydroxide, making it more alkaline.
